Seminar: The EUDR: Key steps toward full implementation

We hereby invite our members to a meeting to provide an update on the latest developments related to the EUDR.

In 2023, the EU Regulation on deforestation (EUDR) entered into force, introducing the obligation for traders to actively demonstrate that their products are not linked to deforestation. Precise geographical information about the agricultural land used for commodities such as soy and palm oil must be provided. It must also be demonstrable that production has taken place in compliance with the relevant legislation and regulations of the country of origin. Failure to comply with the Regulation may result in significant penalties.

Since the adoption of the EUDR, traders have been working to prepare for the requirements set out in the Regulation. Questions such as: ‘What happens if there is an inaccuracy in the geolocation data and what are the consequences?’ or ‘What documentation is needed to prove that the rights of indigenous peoples have been respected?’ are increasingly relevant. Cooperation and information-sharing between governments and traders is crucial to ensure that businesses can meet the requirements in a timely manner.

Following the sessions held in 2023 and 2024, NOFOTA, MVO – The Netherlands Oils and Fats Association – together with the Royal Dutch Grain and Feed Trade Association, will organise a physical meeting for their members to share the latest updates regarding correct implementation.
