NOFOTA stands for the Netherlands Oils, Fats and Oilseeds Trade Association, the Dutch umbrella organisation for companies involved in the production and trade of these commodities. It drafts standard contracts that are used internationally, as outlined in the NOFOTA Trading Rules (latest 2025 version). In addition, it provides a mechanism for dispute resolution through its arbitration institute. NOFOTA is comparable to FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Association Ltd.) in London and GROFOR in Hamburg.

The membership fee for A-members (kindred organisations), B-members (producers, traders and brokers) and C-members (organisations involved in production and trade, such as storage companies, laboratories and banks) is €600.00 (exclusive of VAT).

Apart from the Trading Rules, the Rules for Arbitration and the Annual Report (available to members only), the Association does not publish any documents. According to the Association’s rules, the list of members (included in the Annual Report) is not available to non-members, nor does NOFOTA publish a buyers’ or suppliers’ directory.

Membership runs from January to December each year. If you wish to terminate your membership, you must notify us in writing before 1 October.

The Annual General Meeting and dinner take place in April each year and are exclusively for members. The Golf Tournament is held annually in May/June and the Trading Rules Seminar in September/October.

New members may be introduced on the recommendation of three existing members. Once we receive the completed and signed application form, we will submit it to the Council for approval.
